Shiba Kar is an Assistant Professor of Natural Resource Planning and Policy at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (UWSP) and a Sustainable Energy Specialist with the University of Wisconsin-Extension. Shiba earned his Ph.D. in Forest Resources from Pennsylvania State University and Masters in Environmental Management and Development from Australian National University.

Dr. Kar has a strong background and interest in teaching, collaborative research and outreach in energy policy and natural resources sustainability. His research focuses on socioeconomic and regulatory incentives of sustainable energy, environmental and policy impacts of bioenergy, forest land use and community development, and policy and practices in climate change adaptation. Prior to joining the UWSP, Shiba worked with Washington State University Extension as a faculty member of Hardwood Biofuels initiative and his postdoctoral work at Penn State emphasized policy and practices of forest bioenergy. Dr. Kar also worked with different international organizations focused on natural resource sustainability and community development.
