Aditya Ranade is Deputy Commissioner of the Division of Energy Resources at the Minnesota Department of Commerce. He joined the Commerce Department in 2020 and oversees utility rates and planning, conservation improvement program, energy market transformation, emerging energy technologies, and energy equity programs.
Before joining the Commerce Department, Aditya found two start-ups; Two Degrees Adapt- a technology advisory in climate adaptation and Aerio Technologies- a decision analytics provider for renewable natural gas development. Before that, he led global smart grid R&D at 3M, led building energy efficiency practices at Lux Research, and developed solar panel materials for Saint-Gobain. He has authored reports on building integrated photovoltaics, building energy efficiency policy in G-20 countries, and climate adaptation technologies that have been cited by publications such as Financial Times and Asian Power.
Aditya holds a B.E. (Polymer Engineering) from the University of Pune, a Ph.D. (Macromolecular Science) from Case Western Reserve University, an MBA from Babson College, and a Certificate in “Triplomacy: Energy, Environment and Security” from Tufts University Fletcher School. Aditya grew up in Rajapur- a small town on the west coast of India. He lives in Shoreview with his wife and two children.
