Michael Vickerman is Policy Director for RENEW Wisconsin, a nonprofit organization founded in 1991 to promote renewable energy development and use in Wisconsin. Under Mr. Vickerman's direction from 1991 to 2012, RENEW formulated--and mobilized political support for--several major pro-renewable policies, including a statewide 10% renewable requirement by 2015, uniform siting and permitting standards for wind generators, and incentives for customer-sited renewable energy systems in the state’s Focus on Energy program. As Policy Director, Vickerman advances the interests of renewable energy producers and purchasers in legislative and regulatory proceedings, as well as public forums. Through expert testimony, issue briefs, data gathering, presentations and commentaries, Mr. Vickerman shapes and drives the narrative forward on renewable energy in Wisconsin. Mr. Vickerman received a B.A. degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1978, majoring in history and art history.
